Our History

We come with some history

Located in the heart of the Sutherland Shire, Miranda Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Centre was established in early 80’s and had a rich history of providing physiotherapy to the local community.

In 1993, the practice was purchased by Mark Edgar, a sports physiotherapist, who brought new expertise and skills, along with extensive links to a variety of local sports clubs to the practice.

The Practice in Sylvania Waters

With continued growth, the practice moved to Sylvania Waters, with a new purpose designed facility located in the ground floor of Southern Districts Rugby Club in April 2001. The extra space allowed for the establishment of a multi-disciplinary Sports Medicine practice. We now have an extensive gymnasium, two private consultation rooms along with 5 Physiotherapy treatment tables and traction machine room. Along with the move, the practice name was changed to Southern Districts Sports Physiotherapy which reflects our aim to provide timely and knowledgeable sports injury management to the Shire and St George areas.

Our Return to Miranda

In October 2025, the practice relocated back to Miranda, moving into modern professional medical suites at the Sports Medicine Institute on the Kingsway. We now consult and treat our patients in private rooms and use our fully equiped large commercial gym facilities to further develop patient rehabilitation programs. We worked alongside Sports and Exercise Physicians, Specialist Doctors, Podiatrists, Nutrictionists and Sports Scientists also in the practice. This marks an exciting new chapter and growth for Southern Districts Sports Physiotherapy.
